The Dark Side Of Paradise

A friend of mine isn't doing so well at the moment... let's just say he's kinda lost his way. I'm sure most if not all of you can relate. I sure as hell can...

I met Tea Bag a couple of years ago down in this Central American beach town. His was a fairly typical story... all of a sudden realized there was this great big world out there so he dropped everything and went searching for adventure and enlightenment. We hung out almost a month down there, Tea Bag and I and Nighthawk and Johnny T and the rest of our little gang. Spent our days on the beach smoking Central American bunk, playing frisbee and frollicking in the surf. Every night the town would gather down at this little beach bar to watch the sunset, then applaud the end of another beautiful day in paradise. Tea Bag left town a changed man. I remember hugging him goodbye outside our hostel and seeing it in his eyes. The world had opened up and he jumped right in. Unfortunately it kinda swallowed him in the process. He moved back to that little beach town and started a business. I guess taking a break isn't the same as trying to make that break permanent. Too much time in paradise. Nobody around to slap you back to reality when you get in too deep. It never lasts does it?

It sucks being lost, but it's all worth it once you find yourself again. Peace and love Tea Bag. Take your time, get well and I'll see you in the surf.

The words of Jimmy Buffet never fail at times like these.
Changes In Latitudes... Changes In Attitudes...
And many more wise adn weathered words of the slow times moving too quickly for comfort.
