Outil

Je suis stone right now and I'm sitting in the dark listening to the new Tool with all these randomn thoughts zipping around in my head so I'm just gonna go for it and you can all feel free to tell me what you think.

I saw them a few years ago at the ACC with a couple of friends. It was... well it was the single greatest rock spectacle spectacular I have ever seen. This may seem like a bold statement, but those who were there or who know the band and what they are capable of live, well...

I remember looking around and noticing the crowd was absolutely still. I remember all the people in the mosh pit staring up at the band totally dumbfounded. I remember looking over at CW and KM and going what the fuck is going on? The place was paralyzed. It was like Tool was performing for a giant room of crippled half-wits. WHERE THE HELL WAS THIS WALL OF SOUND COMING FROM?

The bass and guitar players just stood there at the front of the stage on opposite sides with their heads hanging limply over their instruments. Maynard was bobbing up and down at the back beside the drummer who was just beating the absolute shit out of his drums. They had these huge twin screens behind them playing all this trippy animation and then these freaks from Cirque du Soleil come walking out. They're moving around doing this nightmarish mechanical crawl then they get hoisted way up above the stage and they're hanging there upside down doing all this crazy contorting and the video is playing and the music is blowing your mind and it was all just too much...

Tool is playing in Grenoble on May 30th. Anybody wanna go? :)
