Transformed

It is the biggest bowl of fruit salad I have ever seen. Miles didn’t say anything, just walked into my room, put it down on the bed and walked out.

I dig in; attack with a spoon.

It is much needed fuel, kiwi and watermelon, bits of pear, chopped up orange and cantaloupe and pineapple, whole green grapes and blueberries. My drug and booze soaked body is transformed, sucks up the much-needed nutrients. I have become fruit savage.

As I devour there she is.

Barking like a dog at the top of the stairs, letting me know that my after school snack is ready and waiting.

I dig in; attack with tiny fingers.

Fruit juice drips out of my mouth, onto my beard, down onto the bed. I keep going, swallowing air without chewing. It is a brand new day and not once do I think about choking.
